Our mission is to support the needs of NY State Extension Educators in the areas of business planning and marketing, especially as they relate to ag- and food-related business and enterprising farmers. To carry out this mission we do applied research and assemble, create and deliver effective products, information, and programming for entrepreneurial food and ag related small businesses in New York State.
Our core beliefs are:
- Business planning is a process, not a document.
- To be meaningful, market research must be connected to analysis and strategy.
- Increasing the survival rate of small businesses is part of our Land Grant Mission.
- The most powerful lessons in business management are simple to learn but hard to implement.
- Training the trainer is the best way to leverage our resources
- Using innovative technologies to create core materials that can be used in many ways
- Collaborating with our customers to evolve useful and meaningful materials and programs
- Partnering with others involved in support of small business in New York State and beyond
- Routinely scanning the horizon for materials, programs and contacts that can be useful to our stakeholders.
